Pecorino Romano

Dating back to the Roman Empire, Pecorino Romano is one of the world’s oldest cheeses. Pecorino Romano is Italy’s most prominent hard sheep’s milk cheese. It is made in Lazio, Tuscany, and Sardinia—where similar pastures and breeds of sheep ensure consistent flavor and quality. (Not surprisingly, its name is derived from the Italian word for “sheep’s milk”.) The il Giardino® brand's Pecorino Romano is a piquant, hard, densely textured cheese with a pleasantly salty flavor. Strong and sharp, this cheese works best grated into tomato sauces, soups and salads or served with ripe pears and honey.
