DCI Named Category Colonel for Second Year
A slice above the rest: DCI Cheese Company named R&FF Retailer winner of “2008 Category Colonel Award” for specialty cheese for the second year
RICHFIELD, Wis., July 30, 2008 – Another year of innovation and dedication results in a “big cheese” honor from the retail trade. DCI Cheese Company, the premier supplier of American-made and imported specialty cheeses throughout the U.S., has been named 2008 Category Colonel for Specialty Cheese by R&FF Retailer magazine. This is the second consecutive win for DCI Cheese Company in this category, having been awarded the same honor in 2007.
As part of its 2008 Search for Excellence in Branded Partnership Programs, R&FF Retailer selected DCI as the category winner based on votes from hundreds of retail executives from across the country. A confidential vote was conducted over a period of three months, with the ballot posted at the R&FF Retailer website and emailed to retailers nationwide.
“We are thrilled to name DCI Cheese Company as the best in specialty cheese for the second year running,” said Warren Thayer, Editorial Director at R&FF Retailer. “This is truly a salute from the industry and an illustration of the appreciation that the retailers have for DCI and their entire team.”
Retail executives selected their best suppliers based on the following criteria:
- They consistently deliver on time, accurately, and in the quantities promised.
- They provided customized, useful tactics and strategies on pricing and promotion.
- They never have “surprises.” Their communication is top-notch.
“We are truly honored to receive a Category Colonel award again this year in the Specialty Cheese category. The recognition is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to offering our customers the very best on all levels, from product innovation to personalized programs,” says Tim Omer, president of DCI Cheese Company, Inc.
DCI Cheese Company has successfully become the single source in the cheese industry for quick-to-market, value-oriented cheese brands, from commodity to artisan. Thanks to a series of strategic acquisitions and consolidations over the years, DCI delivers the offerings and resources of a billion-dollar cheese conglomerate, remaining flexible and nimble to react quickly to customer needs and category trends.
R&FF Magazine will feature a complete list of all winners in their September issue.
