Makes 4 Sandwiches.
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/3 c. chili powder
- 12 oz. applewood-smoked bacon
- 8 slices sourdough bread
- 1/2 c. chunky apple sauce
- Great Midwest® Naturally Smoked Cheddar cheese, sliced
Preheat oven to 400° F.
In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar and chili powder. Roll each piece of bacon in mixture, place on parchment lined baking sheet and place in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes. Remove from oven and cool, approximately 10-15 minutes.
Heat grilling pan over medium-low heat. Generously butter 4 pieces of bread on one side and place in pan, buttered side down. Spread with apple sauce and layer with cheese and prepared bacon. Butter one side of remaining bread slices and top sandwiches, buttered side up. Grill on each side until golden brown, approximately 2 minutes per side. Remove from heat and serve.
