Makes 2 Sandwiches.
- 2 Tbsp. cilantro, minced
- 1 Tbsp. green onion, thinly sliced
- 2 Tbsp. hoisin sauce
- 12 thin slices deli-style Virginia ham
- 4 slices multi-grain bread
- 16 slices Great Midweast® Naturally Smoked Cheddar cheese, sliced 1/8" thick
- 1 Asian pear, cored and thinly sliced
- 4 tsp. mayonnaise
In a medium bowl, mix the cilantro, green onion and hoisin sauce; add ham and gently rub to evenly coat. Set aside.
Lay out 2 slices of multi-grain bread. Layer each piece of bread with 4 slices Great Midweast® Naturally Smoked Cheddar cheese, 6 pieces ham, pear slices and 4 additional slices of cheese. Top each sandwich with remaining slices of bread. Coat the outside top slice of bread with a thin coating of mayonnaise, about 1 teaspoon.
Warm a large cast iron skillet over medium heat. Place both sandwiches mayonnaise-coated side down in skillet. Weigh down with another smaller cast iron skillet. After 40-45 seconds slather the uncoated side of the sandwiches with the remaining mayonnaise then flip sandwich. Wait another 30-45 seconds, or until bread is golden and cheese is melted, then remove from heat and place on cutting board. Slice in half and serve.
